Si vous étiez un fan de death metal canadien dans les années 1990, vous connaissez Necrotic Mutation! Le groupe est devenu un pilier de la scène death metal au Québec durant ces années. Originaire de Rimouski, le groupe s'est formé en 1991. Après avoir lancé deux démos en 1991 et en 1993, il a fait paraître ses EP acclamés "The Realm of Human Illusions" (1995) et "Necrotic Mutation" (1999).

La compilation Mutanthology est une anthologie musicale remixée et remastérisée pour l'occasion dans une édition CD Digipack Deluxe des enregistrements du groupe entre 1992 et 1995. Elle contient : The Realm Of Human Illusions, Sepulchre Of The Suffering et la rarissime cassette Advanced Tape '92 ainsi que, en toute exclusivité, la chanson Çà, bergers, parue sur la compilation Noel dans la rue, en octobre 1996 .
